Dear Blog,

So I'm having one of those days where I'm just kinda restless. I've been trying to work on my portfolio all day long, but the strides I've made have been small. Life's been kinda strange lately. I think it's just the change between the seasons. It was really lovely today, and the outside air smelled like Spring and it was great. But then it had to remind me that it was still winter, so it got cold again. Yesterday was the last day of work for one of our designers so we saw a movie and had a drink in the east village. After that, I met up with my roommate Jeremy and his friend who's visiting from Ohio, at this bar called four faced liars. It was a little "fratty", but whatev. We were out kinda late, so maybe that's why I'm a little off today. Ok, well LA fashion week just ended so enjoy the pic - Alvin Valley.

Have a fun Sat. night blog

Dear Blog,

Yes, it has been well over a month since my last entry. Whatever....deal with it. So I have been busy with work and friends and whatnot. I've been up to some fun things. My friend Jen came to visit a few weeks ago, I went to see Chorus Line which was super cool, and have done some other fun stuff here and there which I can't remember. Yesterday my friend Martin was in town so we met for lunch in chinatown and then shopped SoHo all afternoon. My friend Sam came along- she's a great shopping buddy. Martin left around 6, so we went back to Astoria and saw the Zodiac. It wasn't "boo", ghost scary, but it was scary enough for me to sleep with the tv on last night. Ok, so I'm a big dork. After that, our roomate Jeremy brought Borat home. It was funnier than I expected, which was good cause I was preparing myself for a disappointment. By the time we finished that it was 3 in the morning(well 2 in the morning but we all had to turn our damn clocks forward). Awesome. Today's beautiful outside so maybe I'll wander around outside and find a park. Ok, well tomorrow's another week.......yay. I really liked the picture, so I thought I'd post it. Just some cool French girl walking the street's of Paris.

Dear Blog,

So fashion week, Fall 07, is in full swing, and I gotta say that I feel uninspired thus far. If you want to check out all the shows, go to style.com - they have all the pics from every show, and then fun little stuff like the picture above. I couldn't find any looks that I loved, but I did think this illustration was pretty cool. Not much else new here - it is bitterly cold and bringing me down. I think it's keeping everyone inside, as Target was even empty this morning. Never in my whole 1 and a half years in NYC have I been to a Target when there's not a line wrapped around the entire store. Ok, well another week - can't wait.....sorry for the negativity blog.

Love,
Kate

Dear Blog,

I have no excuse for not visiting you this year. Just call me lazy and get it over with. Now with January nearly over, I look back on the last month with a smile - this years off to a good steadt start so far. It's going to be a challenging one, but if you don't learn from life, what's the point really anyways. I got back to NYC in time for a cozy New Year's Eve on the couch with Paul. Our Jewish friend Jon was in town, so he stopped by for burritos and we gave him a hard time about law school. Since we all live for the weekends here, most of my fun is had on Saturday and Sunday. I've been to the MET to see the Nan Kempner wardrobe exhibit, checked out several new restaurants including my favorite Thai place "35". One of my new years resolutions, the only one I have been able to keep so far, is the one in which I spend more time with my friends and the people I love. Yesterday Phil, Leena, Paul and I rented a car and drove to the mecca of outlet shopping, Woodbury Commons. We all did pretty well, especially Leena and I who filled the back of that little "Cobalt" up with way too many bags. I have a couple of things coming up to look forward to such as "Chorus Line" tix in February. Ok, this is the only musical I really love.....well, except for "Hello Dolly", but I swear, that's it. I am meeting some family in Savannah, the weekend after Easter so that should be fun. And there's always Allison and Aaron's wedding in May. Someone told me that last Monday was the "bluest" day of the year - I guess part of it has to do with the winter weather being crap in January; the fact that we have a long time before another Holiday; and lastly, most of our resolutions lose speed around this time. Get back up on that horse people....it's 2007!

Love,
Kate

Dear Blog,

Merry belated Christmas Blog. As I probably mentioned, I am in Colorado for the week. We are in the midst of our 2nd blizzard in a week, so that's fun. Luckily Mom netflix'd before I got home so we have plenty of Grey's Anatomy to watch. I made it here in one piece and on-time, which was in itself, a Christmas miracle. My bags arrived a day later but I can't really complain too much about that. The girl I called in India told me they would be here the next day and sure enough, she was right. We spent Christmas Eve lounging around and then went to midnight mass (at 6 pm) and then to dinner at the Welshire Inn which is kind of our regular Christmas Eve dinner hang out. The next day we opened presents and then had some friends over for dinner. I got many nice things, but I won't mention them all because it's tacky, but amongst my favorites were the Hermes parfume from Paul and pottery from Mom and Dad. I am running out of places to store it so I think I'm going to let Paul hang on to some of it for me, since he loves it so much. Other than that, we have been trying to get out of the house in between snow showers - to the malls of course to catch the sales. Last night my fathers friend Bjorn invited us over for a Swedish Christmas dinner - bring on those lil' meatballs!! Ok, well I only have a few more days left of doing nothing at all productive so I better get on to it. See you in 07' blog!!!!

Kate

Dear Blog,

So I'll say it - I'm eating my words about this one blog. I had a fantastic time at the holiday party. It was 1/4 a cooking lesson, 1/4 team building exercise and 1/4 a whole lot of red wine and 1/4 of co-workers having too much fun together. But no really, it was very much a good time. It was at this place in Tribeca called "Cooking By the Book" and I definitely want to take everyone there. We made filets and they were amazing, but that's only because I was on team filet, so of course they were delicious. We had 4 teams, and each group had a dish to make. After the whole hour of cooking that we did, we all sat down and ate and then exchanged secret Santa gifts. I still don't know who drew my name, but I wish I did so that I could thank them. After that, finished off the late afternoon, early evening at Edwards cafe down the street. I work with good people.

Last night the holiday office party fun continued with Ian and the Nice Ltd. crowd. You know me, I always get tired on Friday, so I wasn't a ring a ding kid or anything, but it was fun and good to see my buddy Ian. This morning I have hair cut and then I'm knocking out the rest of the Christmas shopping. Almost done - HOOOOORAY!!!!

Fa lalalala la la la la!

Dear Blog,

So only 14 shopping days left til Christmas. I really don't know where the last 5 months have gone. It was July one day, and then the next it was Halloween, and then the day after that, was today , and almost the end of the year. I have tried to make the most of the last few weeks of 2006. I feel like I have been very social lately, as it is the Holidays. Last weekend I was out on both Friday AND Saturday - ok so, I get really tired and floppy-feeling come Friday, so it takes a good dinner and a bottle of wine to pull me out of it. I had dinner with my boys Paul and Ian at Knife and Fork - it was an experience - nice ambiance, and an interesting menu -I give it 3 stars. Next we met Paul's friend Lindy and her birthday crowd at People - they had good music. Saturday, we were dragging a bit so it was breakfast at cup and a nap until 6, when Sam was picking me up to go to The Nutcracker. I had never been to a ballet before, and it was amazing - those people sure can move around. They even danced while it snowed little plastic snowflakes, which we surely thought was most dangerous. After, we went to Aspen and Gstaad - 2 bars that boast an uppity, hoity-toity, apres ski lodge feel. I called it an early night, because I had to Christmas shop on Sunday. Paul and I made it down to the lower east side in search of not-lame presents for everyone. Paul was very patient while I browsed. It is Monday night again and a week of work stands before me. The White + Warren Holiday shindig is on Thursday - we're getting crazy from 1-4 on Thursday afternoon, while making our own food and exchanging secret Santa gifts - yipeeee - well not really, but I'm trying to not be mad about it. Time for bed - I feel tired all over.

Love,
Kate
