Dear Blog,

So I get to work this morning and look out the window and there are 3 "snapple" hot air balloons sitting in bryant park - not something you see every day. I would think that hot-air ballooning is not something you would want to do in a city with a lot of tall, pointy buildings, but then again, I don't know much about hot-air balloons so who am I to say. The weekend is almost here, which means my little mini-vacation is almost here - can't wait!!! I guess portfolio work will have to be delayed, yet again, to next weekend. It's hot here in the city, and today, for once, the sun was shining which makes it all the more easier to get out of bed.

I wrote this last week and never posted but I thought I would post it anyway.

Dear Blog,

So today is one of those days that are meant to be spent in bed watching The Cosby Show re-runs. For the last couple of days it has been rainy and grey and it's bringing me down - I'm kinda sad, and don't really feel like being out and just blah, blah blah for a week now. I am hoping that our impending vacation next weekend to Charlotte N.C. will clear things up for me.

The last couple of weekends have been good and for some weird reason, the time hasn't flown by, instead of feeling like your 2 days off is more like 2 hours off. 2 weekends ago, Paul and I had a quiet weekend. Saturday we had lunch at this snobby restaurant Mediterraneo, or something like that on the upper east side, and then went to the park for a while. It was really really steamy out, so we cooled off in the Time Warner Center and Paul got ray-ban's and a "boat shirt" for vacay - that sounds kind of gay, so I won't say "vacay" anymore -sorry blog. We then stopped at whole foods and got steaks for dinner. We rarely spend a Saturday night at home making dinner, so it was a much needed good time. The steaks were the size of my cats, so we had a hard time cutting through - only one thing to say - "meat sweats".

The next day we went to Church and it was First Communion for the kiddies, which was nice to see - brought me back. After that, we met our friend Lena for Summer Stage in Central Park. It's free and kind of cool if the right music is playing. After that it was off to Taco Taco and one of the best burrito's and coconut margarita's I have ever had in my life. Back at home, we watched "Kiss, Kiss, Bang Bang", with Val Kilmer and Robert Downy Jr.(very very big crush on RDjr.). It was good - unusual, but good.

This past weekend, my friend Lindsay was in town for a motion graphics convention for work, so she stayed through Sunday with us in Queens. She was pretty beat so we laid low for the most part. Friday we went to dinner at Local, this new Italian place down the street, and then Saturday, Shinae(other roomate), Lindsay and Paul and I met up for "The Great New Wonderful" at the Angelika. I have seen a lot of movies like this lately - very scattered, following the lives of many different people, and then at the end, everyone sort of comes together. It seems to be a trend in movies lately.

After that, we gave back to New York City - which means we went shopping and spent money. I bought a shelf at the crate and the barrel and then my lovely roommates helped me lug the 9" tall awkwardly heavy box home on the subway - what a bunch of troopers. That night we rented a movie and there was lots o' girlchat. Sunday was quiet - I put my shelf together - it was really simple and I could handle it. I cleaned a little, and then later we went to a BBQ at Kathleen's(old roommate), and it was fun - they have a pretty nice, cute little place with a nice roof. Later, Paul and I continued our love affair with Robert Downy Junior and watched "Less than Zero" - eerily parallels his real life -might give you nightmares - be careful.

So that was a marathon Blog. It's 11 so I'm watching "Sex and the City". For all of you boys who wonder - there's actually this beacon that sounds whenever the show's on and only girls can hear it.

Good night Blog,
I will try not to wait so long to write next time - I know you get lonely.

Dear Blog,

So the last 2 weeks have been busy ones - but I guess when you live in a city like this, you are always busy - with business or something other.....So I've noticed that I only write about my weekends, but lets face it....we all live for those 2 care-free days a week. Last Friday, my friend Jen stopped by for a visit since she was in the city for an interview and then in the evening, Chip, Jen and I headed west to Hell's Kitchen a medium sized BBQ at Ian's design firm - it was nice........and for those of you that didn't catch it, that was a bad joke. The next day Paul and I met up with Rebecca at her new apt. in the lower east side and then headed to Union Pool in Williamsburg for another BBQ. After that, we trolled the neighborhood, being the cool, hipster that kids that we are not(well, I only speak for myself and for paul), got some Mexican food and the hit up some vintage stores. One store in particular was owned and run by one of Rebecca's friends, who's a designer that re-works and re-sells vintage clothing. Later that night, we were all tuckered out so we watched a few episodes of Arrested Development and called it a day. The next day, Paul came to my neck of the woods where we grocery shopped and layed out in my little courtyard in the back. We actually got some sun, and of coarse, Paul got burned as usual. Later that night we had an impromptu BBQ of our own(lots o' bbq's this weekend - I just not realized that....god I'm slow) and quite a few kids showed up. Then came Monday and the countdown started all over again. Well, we have a 1/2 day tomorrow which makes me very happy - after work I might try to go find a bathing suit - oh boy.....I am so excited.......I can't wait.......do you sense the lack of enthusiasm in my voice..........no...........maybe now........?

Good night blog,

Dear Blog,

Well I have been quite the little traveler lately. 2 weeks ago I went back to CO for a visit and then last weekend I went to Philly to celebrate my friend Jen's 24th. Ok, well, I guess I'm not as big a traveler as I think, but it sounds so good to see it written. I got to PA by way of the Apex Bus Co, or what is better known as the China Town Bus. Only 2 fights broke out on the way there, but other than that, it was a very pleasant ride - I guess I'd be a fool to expect anything more, since I only paid $20 round-trip. I don't even see how this covers the cost of gas, but whatever..... I'm asking no questions. Once I arrived we got lunch at this really good Chinese restaurant called the Peking Duck House(there were about 5 Peking Duck House restaurants on the same street and we just picked one), and then walked through this great big farmers market. We went home and hung out for a few hours before it was time to drive back downtown to meet Michael Ian Black at this comedy place on South Street. I have to say that although he wasn't laugh-out-loud funny, he was kind of fun to listen to. The best part of the night was when he read several of his blg entries off myspace(or friendster, can't remember) - that's right - he keeps a blog - check it out. After the show we had some Mojito's at this Mexican Restaurant and then went home. We are just not the all-night partying crowd, no matter how hard we try. The next morning was Jen's birthday, and her mom made a wonderful breakfast and then I headed out to catch the bus. On this trip, I met Jen's brother Jason who surprisingly enough, has the same illness that I do - Wegeners Disease. It was nice to meet another person who's been there and back and knows what its like. When I got back that afternoon, I got re-aclimated and then Paul met me for a movie. We saw "The Break-up". The theatre was mostly couples, and I can only guess that the conversations on the way out of the theatre were the same for everyone. That's all I'm going to say... So on my ride back to NYC, I took some lovely pics of the highway. I can't remember whether it's the NJ or PA Turnpike, but it's one of those - enjoy the not so lovely photo!

Night blog,

Dear Blog,

Well I apologize, I have been a very lazy blogger lately, and so much fun stuff has happened that I haven't even told you about. Well, last weekend I went home over Memorial day Weekend and we all had a wonderful time. Sometimes all you need is a couple days at your real home to just get yourself all straightened out. When I'm out of joint, both in mind and spirit, and need to go back to my roots, or at least back to Colorado and bring myself back down and into it. Whenever I go home I always feel the need and want to be creative, but then by the time I've rested I have to go back to work and my creative energy runs out all over again. Anyway, I had a 1/2 day last Friday and then it was off to Pittsburgh and off to Denver. Paul left to visit Brian in Chicago the same day and had one hell of a time getting out of LAG(flying sucks most of the time). Although I think that your vacation should begin with your flight instead of starting after you land. So it was supposed to be a surprise, but Mom's sneaky and pretty much knew a week before that I would be home. Next time I'll surprise the both of them.

On Saturday I worked out in the morning and then we just hung around the house, met up with some friends for lunch and then did some shopping at the mall. It's funny how we don't really have that sort of thing in NYC. Later. we got Chinese food and watched TV. Sunday I played some piano(luckliy I haven't lost it yet) and then we took the top down on my beetle and drove downtown. Went to a bookstore, did some more shopping and then headed back home. We had to make it home by 7 because that's when the Soprano's comes on, and my mom and dad now LOOOOOOOVE the Soprano's and HBO. My mom made dinner - how I love home-cooked meals and then later on, my dad I watched the Sherlock Holmes mysteries they have on the Biography channel. Monday, I took my car for one last drive and then we stayed in and watched movies. The weather was kind of gross and cold out. Tuesday I had to leave, but not til 6 so mom and I spent the afternoon together and got lunch.

It was a nice visit and I was oh so sad to have to leave. I had 2 very loved orange cats and one dog that we kind of like, so it's always hard to leave them. Ok, blog, sorry again for the delayed update. Hopefully I will get my act in gear and write to you more often.

Night blog
